Canine Unit

The Canine (K-9) Unit provides specialized K-9 support for law enforcement operations, including drug detection, search and rescue, and apprehension of suspects. Our highly trained dogs and handlers work together to enhance public safety and assist other divisions in their operations.

The Canine Unit works closely with other divisions to provide comprehensive law enforcement support.

MCD x K-9

The Motor Compliance Division works closely with the Canine Unit to identify and apprehend drug producers and traffickers. Cross-training in DPS, DSO, MCD, and K-9 certifications allows officers to conduct comprehensive operations targeting illegal drug activities.

CATT x K-9

The Crime Area Target Team and Canine Unit collaborate on operations targeting drug dealers and meth labs. By joining DSO, you can obtain both CATT and K-9 Certifications, allowing you to work with man's best friend to catch criminals. See the policy in the DSO SOP for more details.
